New Leadership Magic

Hail, High Water, and Holiday Blizzard caused the assembly to finally vote in the new year's leadership. Hank Miller was shanghaied into leading the meeting and then voted in as our new President. Mark Weidhaas was elected as the new Vice President while Dave Wintermute and Frank Klein stayed in their respective offices of Secretary and Treasurer.

The group decided to continue 4th Tuesday monthly meeting nights (7 PM), but to avoid the November and December holidays. We agreed to change meeting formats from an everyone shares something to hosted theme presentations.

We sorrowed at the passing of Ned's Magic Shop in Denver and rejoiced at our Nate Leipzig award for medium assembly growth. Mark Weidhaas was nominated to be SAM President. Local boy-made-good Gary Carson was reported to be doing well in Las Vegas and David Cooperfield is expected to have a May Denver showing.

Magic this evening started with Mark passing out 9 cards and teaching the 9-Card trick where the identity of the 3rd card is mysteriously discovered despite the truths or lies told about it. Hank did a 4-card Do as I Do routine and an Oil &Water set that continued to separate despite careful mixing. Tom provide straws and instructions to Carroll Baker's Unlinking Straws where tied straws passed through each other to untie themselves. Gary's Twisted Aces still stuns me even though I thought I knew how they worked.

It was a good meeting along with the promise of even better ones to come this year.
