Fabulous meeting.

Dick Bowman's "Simplest Trick" was the commercial Dice in a Box that he had taught our youthful SYM (Society of Young Magicians) and it brought forth many membership memories of variations they had seen. Bill Wysong taught the 7-Penny "Magic Lesson" and Richard Kwesell did an elegant Flame to Coin switch routine. Benji Bruce demonstrated the "Magic Gadget" that makes the Extreme Burn work so well. Max Hapner's "Newest Trick" combined 2 others (cards & mentalism) to pull a prediction card out of a blank deck. Frank Klein shared his "Experiences" of mountaintop and early a.m. performances. Dave Wintermute shared his holey "Wishes" for the club with a movable hole in a card. Susan Boy demonstrated her 1978 "Last Performance" of the classic Scotch & Soda. Thomas Paine got a standing ovation for nailing his "Newest Trick" of Richard Sanders Fiber Optics ropes. Mark Weidhaas previewed the Meal or No Meal trick he provided the July MUM. Brett Murray showed his 2 coins across routine. Garry Klatt played with the audience in demonstrating his invisible palming cards. Larry Mahan did an excellent 4 way card coincidence. Dan Mills did his first performance for us of a This & That card routine with a spinning card ending. Hank Miller gave a Twisting Aces "Lesson" on the Elmsley count.

Among the magic that was shared were some memorable comments.
Our elder statesman Max noted that the Will Houston lecture was the best he had EVER seen - it showed the importance of timing. While Greg Wilson's presentation exemplified a mastery of audience control. New member Tom recounted his interest in reading MUM's description of Max (see above) providing the best performances of the 1973 Miami convention. Brett shared his memories of an outdoor zombie routine that ended with a thunderclap & 5-minute rainstorm - to this day those kids believe he did it on purpose.
